Everyone’s favorite Based God-turned-NYU lecturer, Lil B, just released his second mixtape in the month of April, Trapped in BasedWorld, a “very rare collecters [sic] tape” according to its description at datpiff. One of a number of mixtapes already released in 2012, BasedWorld features a baker’s dozen of Lil B tracks, including the hypnotic, deadpan-delivered “Texas,” head-nodder “Why You In My House” and the awesomely unsettling closer “Based Mary.”
Earlier this month, BlackBook’s own Lindsay Maharry joined Lil B at his NYU lecture, which sold out in ten minutes and packed a lecture hall with 500 devotees of the Based God. During the lecture, available in full at The Fader, Lil B taught us all a thing or two about the power of positive thinking, saying:
“Give people a chance to come in your heart. I know why a lot of people don’t trust people. You know why? There’s a lot of mean, bad people out here. A lot of people don’t have a value on their own life. They don’t have a value on how blessed we are to be alive. Our generation right here, we’re on a class of earth together. This is our class. All of us are going to be like, “Hey, remember 20 years ago when we did that?” Don’t be hard on each other.”
Later on, Lil B revealed to the crowd that he would be releasing a “garage punk” rock album, California Boy, and that it wouldn’t be done as a gimmick.
